Alberto Toval, the school's founder, holds a 2000+ FIDE Elo rating and a Superior Monitor qualification from FADA with over 15 years of competitive and teaching experience. Carmen María López specialises in beginner coaching and is particularly effective with younger learners and adults returning to the game. Luis Troughton focuses on the intermediate level, with a specific emphasis on the tactical and strategic development that moves players from foundation to competitive standard.
For Swansea students, the online format provides consistent, structured coaching without requiring travel. A student in Sketty, Uplands, Gower or anywhere else across the city and surrounding area joins the same live session — shared board, real-time position analysis, direct teacher contact throughout — as any student in the group. Geography no longer limits access to quality chess coaching.
