Our online chess lessons in Ireland are open to all ages. Advanced groups work at competitive level: deep preparation, complex middlegame positions, precise endgame technique and the kind of structured thinking that translates into real rating improvement.

Every Chesscul group is taught by a real, qualified chess teacher — not a pre-recorded video, not an automated platform. Alberto Toval, who founded Chesscul in Málaga in 2024, holds a 2000+ FIDE Elo rating and a Superior Monitor qualification from FADA, with over 15 years of competitive play and structured coaching experience. In that time Chesscul has grown to more than 100 active students and attracted coverage from over 200 media outlets across Spain and Latin America. Carmen María López teaches the beginner groups, specialising in first-time learners and younger students. Luis Troughton, who has a close connection to the UK and Ireland chess scene, leads the intermediate groups and focuses on helping players make the step from casual play to consistent improvement.
For students in Ireland, the practical advantage is significant. Finding a qualified chess coach in most Irish towns outside Dublin is genuinely difficult; online lessons remove that barrier entirely while keeping the interactive, teacher-led format that makes structured learning work. The Chesscul course follows a fixed weekly structure: two one-hour sessions per week, same days, same time, with the same group of students throughout the year. The curriculum moves through openings, middlegame tactics and strategy, and endgame technique in a logical sequence, so every concept builds on the previous one. We confirm your place personally within 48 hours, and classes begin in September 2026. Month-to-month billing starts then, with no enrolment fee and no minimum term. Beginner and intermediate groups are €39/month; advanced groups are €49/month. Between sessions, the Chesscul platform gives students access to exercises and materials, so the learning continues beyond the two weekly hours in class.
